View the New Mother’s Day Collection from Azza Fahmy

15th March, 2012

Spoil your Mother on her special day this year and treat her to a wonderfully sentimental piece from Azza Fahmy’s stunning Mother’s Day Collection.

The pieces in this gorgeous collection bear calligraphy and inscriptions designed to convey our special feelings of love and gratitude to one of the most special women in our lives. Featuring excerpts of poetry from the Lebanese-American artist, poet and writer Khalil Gibran the collection includes some exquisitely eye-catching ethnic-chic jewellery which has been beautifully crafted in 18 carat gold and sterling silver.

Contrary to popular belief, Mother’s Day was not conceived and fine-tuned in the boardroom of Hallmark Cards, rather, throughout history, motherhood has always been celebrated. In prehistoric tribes the mother Goddess was worshiped as the creator of life and female goddess figures have been found in many archaeological digs. In Azza Fahmy’s native Egypt, Isis was the Queen of Heaven who ruled over all matters concerning mothering. While in ancient Greece Rhea was revered as the mother goddess and in ancient Rome it was Hera, the wife of Zeus. Most mothering festivals historically took place in the springtime to celebrate the rebirth of the land and the beginning of the most fertile time of the year.

Introducing Contemporary Jeweller Stephen Webster…

14th February, 2012

La Maison Couture is buzzing with excitement at the arrival of uber-chic cutting edge jewellery designer Stephen Webster in The Boutique .

Stephen’s keen eye for detail, expert craftsmanship and glam-rock attitude have made him a favourite with celebrities across the globe, from Madonna to Christina Aguilera, Kate Moss, Sir Elton John, Mickey Rourke and Kate Beckinsale to name but a few and it’s easy to see why. Stephen clearly blends his love for traditional craftsmanship with a passion for contemporary music, fashion and art and the result is modern and unconventional yet utterly beautiful jewellery.

Stephen’s industrious talent has placed coloured gemstones and fine jewellery back into the spotlight. According to Stephen, “Things have changed. The fear factor, the reverence and the rather staid formality have all but disappeared. Magazines now have fashion shoots featuring H&M jeans accented by £10,000 diamond rings. Adding a diamond-studded detail to a watch or a piece of jewellery no longer marks a customer as a flashy, ostentatious type. It just makes a person look more…lively.”

It’s a unique and edgy approach that has been over 30 years in the making and won him a huge loyal global customer base as well as industry recognition.

Newly launched this week, we are delighted to be able to offer a selection of stunning jewellery pieces for both Men and Women from the best-selling Astro Balls, Jules Verne, Superstud and Baroque collections…

Introducing the Exciting New Pharaonic Collection from Jewellery Designer Azza Fahmy

30th November, 2011

Pharaonic Collection by Azza Fahmy

We are loving the fabulous new Pharaonic Collection from iconic Egyptian jewellery designer Azza Fahmy here at La Maison Couture.

Available to buy now in The Boutique, the spectacular hand-crafted Pharaonic Collection features at it’s core, a remarkable series of motifs and symbolic references from Ancient Egypt.

Pharaonic Collection by Azza Fahmy

We love the desirable, bold statement necklaces and multi-layered collars, bracelets and cuffs that are bursting with personality. Not to mention the covetable earrings and rings, which boast carefully curated architectural designs bringing to life ancient Egyptian stories – all in Azza Fahmy’s gorgeous trademark combination of sterling silver and 18ct gold.

Evolving concepts from 19th-14th Centuries B.C. and with a special focus on the themes of love and wisdom during the Amarna period (1352-1327 B.C.), this modern avant-garde collection reinvents the drama and romanticism of Ancient Egypt.

Symbols and motifs accentuated in the pieces include the mandrake fruit (aka the love apple), the Ostrich plume of Maat (symbolising cosmic balance), the Scarab (portraying transformation) and the Lotus flower (which represents the first moment of creation).

The Pharaonic Collection definitively delivers a touch of Egypt’s past in a thoroughly modern guise.
