Ellis Mhairi Cameron

Ellis’ work stems from an interest in how our identities are influenced by our specific locations and how this forms social heritage. Throughout history, regardless of country or continent, ancient cultures have adorned their bodies. A focus of her research is exploring the reasoning behind why we wear jewellery and the symbolism and sentiment that a piece of jewellery can hold.
Each piece of Ellis Mhairi Cameron fine jewellery is entirely handmade, and cast from recycled gold using British suppliers, based in London and Scotland. Ellis works with independent reputable diamond suppliers to ensure that the diamonds she uses are sourced ethically and responsibly.
Ellis’ latest collection, Origins, takes inspiration from the jewellery hoards which have been found across Scotland, containing pieces which transcend the centuries and encompass the heritage of many different lands.
Origins takes qualities from these hoards; a myriad of coins and jewels, fragments of history, pollinated from different areas. Sculpted in 14 carat yellow gold and set with diamonds, the Origins collection is a fusion of intricacy and erosion. Historical shapes are deconstructed into sculptural fine jewellery situated firmly within today’s modern world.
We are delighted to feature a selection of works by Ellis Mhairi Cameron as part of our Responsible Jewellery edit at La Maison Couture.
