Meher Jewellery
Launching in 2017, jewellery designer Meher Iqbal’s eponymous label was borne having created intimate, meaningful
talismans for friends. Each piece was personal; crafted with such intent and so unique to the recipient that word
spread and additional orders were placed; demand was high for jewellery that told a story. The message of
empowerment, promise and self-belief remains key throughout Meher Jewellery collections today.
Meher notes that inspiration for every piece she designs stems from emotion. When describing herself as a visual
person, Meher explains how she relates emotion to objects. This translates into jewellery that is both significant and
symbolic. Meher looks to the sky when she prays and as such the sun, moon and stars feature frequently in celestial
designs to inspire hope and faith. A subtle nod to the Art Deco era evokes revival and rebirth, that first ray of dawn
breaking the darkness. Similarly, the label’s logo of an upward trajectory denotes positivity, growth and potential.
Workmanship and crafting sustainably is important to Meher and at Meher Jewellery 80% of gold is recycled. Where
any gold is bought, it is sourced from UAE ethical reserves however future plans mean that 100% gold will be recycled.
Meher Jewellery adheres to the strict protocol in the UAE for stone sourcing whether it be Columbian emeralds or Sri
Lankan sapphires, ensuring it is done so ethically.
