OUROBOROS is an artisanal brand, based out of Jaipur and designed by the British designer, Olivia Young. Each piece is handmade, taking inspiration from the brand’s namesake, an ancient Egyptian mythical creature, a serpent or a dragon curved around to eat its own tail, representing infinity and the circular nature of life. This first OUROBOROS collection is influenced by cycles and naturally progressed to the celestial bodies. The sun, the moon and stars represent the cycle of the day and the cycle and circular nature of life.
The artisans use one-of-a-kind combinations of techniques specialising in Indian miniature paintings, hand carving, articulation and the Indian Kundan setting. Olivia’s background was originally working at The Gem Palace, Jaipur, where she learned jewellery manufacturing and design amongst many other crucial jewellery skills. She then studied at the Gem-A and went on to work predominantly as a gemologist at the responsible gemstone mining company, Gemfields, hence her deep knowledge of responsible gemstones and sourcing.
OUROBOROS’ commitment to using only the most unique stones set in 18 or 24 Karat gold, is matched only to Olivia’s commitment to the conditions and treatment of her talented artisans. Each piece is made with diligence, excellence and love.
