MAKAL is a genuinely ethical and sustainable jewellery brand founded by Daniela Colaiacovo.

Daniela spent 15 years on the ground in Honduras, establishing the first ethical gold mine in the world. MAKAL brings the natural gold nuggets that were left to life, as a collection of over twenty pieces.

Daniela pioneered zero-waste extraction and chemical-free processing in gold mines. So MAKAL will only use gold nuggets that come from known and responsible sources. All the gold, diamonds and other materials are certified by Fairtrade or the Responsible Jewellery Council. The packaging is made from paper certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council and is designed to be used as jewellery boxes. Reinforcing these certifications, where possible, MAKAL subjects its suppliers to its own due diligence.

MAKAL’s pieces are made to order by artisans in Florence using ancient methods to produce beautiful contemporary Italian jewellery.
