No piece of contemporary jewellery implies status like the old fashioned signet ring, chevalière, or the colloquially termed “pinky ring”…
Throughout history, the symbolic “pinky ring” has been worn by Pharaohs, Roman dignitaries, royalty and clergy alike. Appearing in the glamorous world of the 1930’s adopted by bright young things who defined their avant – garde attitudes by the clothes they wore. Mobsters, fashionistas and screen gods such as Al Capone, Coco Chanel and Clark Gable are all renowned for their trademark ‘pinky rings’ .
In short…the pinky ring is..and always has been a mark of distinction, style and attitude.
The PNKYRNG Collection by Beirut designer Dina Kamal, pays homage to the signet ring’s long history. Founded on an ethos of balance and design, this ultra contemporary and unisex collection re-defines the shape of the signet ring based on an interpretation of Art Deco and Bauhaus aesthetics. The collection, entirely handcrafted in 18k gold has the clean lines and proportions of the period combined with the subtle elegance of a range of white, beige, pink and black diamonds. The result is a look of modern, pared down chic that is absolutely timeless…
Dina Kamal trained and practised as an architect in Washington D.C, before moving to Beirut. In 2010 she launched DK-01 a Beirut-based design practice focusing on unique ideas for jewellery and precious objects, as well as bespoke architecture projects. Inspired by her architectural background and love of clean lined modernity, she created her first contemporary jewellery collection based on iconic timeless designs created using precious materials.
We are delighted to launch Dina Kamal exclusively online at La Maison Couture in The Jewellery Room and available to buy in our Boutique.
